Had issues with PPS CUDA-23 units erroring out after 30 seconds to a minute and was tearing out my hair again. Running Ubuntu Maverick with nvidia drivers 260.19 (i think)
Solution is to downgrade nvidia drivers back to 256.53. fixes it a treat.
You can get the Debian package from here:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/56414517/nvidia-current_256.53-0ubuntu3_amd64.deb (http://launchpadlibrarian.net/56414517/nvidia-current_256.53-0ubuntu3_amd64.deb)
You can get more info here:

Note that you have to uninstall the current driver before you can instal;l an older one. You may also wish to lock down the version so you don't keep getting asked to upgrade it. You can do this with Synaptic - just select the "nvidia-current" package and then go to Package->lock package.
hope this helps someone keep their hair.

Hey thanks Mark. Hopefully with that info I can begin with Primegrid on Ubuntu 10.4. Damned frustrating at times.
