I've uploaded some of the videos to a YouTube channel. Unfortunately, none have been edited, so they're still set to 'private' or 'unlisted'.
So here are the links, sorry about the sound, etc.

Great. I liked those. Looks to be in good shape. Too bad about the engine but I can't help but think you can find something to drop in there. Enjoy!

I'm seriously thinking about that electric boat motor conversion kit on AliExpress. Then worry about extra batteries latter.

I would seriously look into this before buying an electric motor.  There is a few other things you need as well as the motor and a battery. The add says it's a kit but just shows a motor.  You also need something that can propel your boat.

Dingo: Yes, that's just the motor. The seller also has a heap of other options, including hybrid diesel-electric. The prices are about half what's available here and they're still using parts made in China. I was thinking of using a few secondhand AGM Deep Cycle Batteries to start with. Because they are cheaper and the insurance company doesn't have a problem with them (ie fire). Then later get a bunch of LiFeP04 batteries from an Australian manufacturer. Again, for the insurance company but also for ease of warranty if needed.
The motor is the big ticket item in the kit. The controller, throttle, cabling, etc isn't too pricey.

Jave: I think Eco only makes the small inboard electric motors, like 10kW. The boat needs 50+kWs (about 70hp). Local, EU and US suppliers are charging huge sums of money for them.
I hadn't seen Electric Drive Engineering. A quick look shows a 96kW kit, about twice what I need, will be available soon. Like Dingo's suggestion, it's something to keep an eye on though.

Something I forgot to mention earlier, there's a sailing school next to the shipyard. I'll pop in there and see about some basic lessons. May try to anchor nearby if it's free.

If the link works, this is the Find A Crew website. It looks very active. Hopefully, someone with experience training yachties can be attracted to the job. 😁

Thanks again, Dingo, for letting my family and non-boinc friends have access to this thread. They like it very much.

My YouTube channel, Sailing Cerberus, is now published but still only shows unedited videos because my laptop can't run the needed editing software.

All the below-water line work is complete but near completion.

However, during the work, I asked for an update on the cost to that point. The yard manager told me high $7,000s so I asked him to complete the job.

Oops, it turned out to be $16,800!!! I had $9,000 on hand, so paid them that. Now, I'm trying to find funding for the remaining $7,800 but getting a loan when I'm on a pension is very hard.

One bank, Bendigo, will entertain the idea but they want to wait a month to see what my spending looks like when I've made the reductions to expenses I said I was making.

So I'm stuck at home for now. The boat is finished and back at Yamba Marina.

At some point, I'll need to look into moving out of my unit and doing something with the things I want to keep. Then moving onto the boat full-time but it will need to be moved from the mooring to a berth. Which will cost more again. 🤦♂️

I'd love to be able to get it to Yaringa Boat Harbour, which is just up the road from here and would solve most of the problems.

Thanks for the thought Pete but I think repaying a bunch of small loans would be too difficult to do.
