I was jsut curious. I have heard that Xfce is much lighter on the computer, so is it good for Boincing? Like will I notice a noticeable difference it I use it.

The reason is I mostly use my comp for word stuff / the internet. And I think Xfce Ubuntu would run that fine, but would that noticeable increase in BOINC speeds?

Thanks

I don't think it will make a noticeable difference, except it your computer is very old (and slow) or low on RAM (e.g. I'd run it on my 300MHz Celeron with 128MB RAM).

Nah, mine's a 1.8 Ghz with 1gig ram.. so guess not that much of an improvement, so I'll use the pretty effects of gnome then :P
