Greetings All, just recieved this through notices on BOINC from PRIMEGRID.

GCW Sieve is shutting down May 1st

This is the official 30 day warning.

On May 1st we will turn off the work generator for the GCW Sieve project. We expect all bases to have reached optimal sieving depth by then.

If you need extra credit for a badge or hours for WUProp, now is the time to get it.

PrimeGrid has a new subproject called Wieferich and Wall-Sun-Sun Prime Search.

There are CPU and GPU apps.

You can read more about it here ...

Greetings All

Just done a quick test on this new project, and re NVIDIA cards as follows

On my 1660 super - around 800 seconds, one of my wingmen, was running a 1650 around 1200-1300 seconds, which is a good start.

Older cards will be way slower, averaging on my 970 and 1060 around 3600 seconds, so not worthwile when my 1660 super can do 4 per 3600 seconds.

Just my observations.

Cheers

I saw this this morning. A new badge too! WW Badge.
I read that CPU crunching is rather slow and you can use all your threads.
I'm a bit busy with YAFU for the moment. I'll get to this eventually.

Dingo

I decided after running a few CPU tasks that I would never be the first responder because they mix the GPU and CPU together and the GPU is about 12 - 13 minutes on my 1660 Ti and the CPU was just over nine hours.   This work unit was a CPU task on my computer and a RTX 3080 GPU by my buddy.

Ha!! I'm in this for the badge but CERTAINLY won't find a prime with my cards!
Even my best card, the Radeon VII only has a 1st rate of 18%

Horses for courses I guess  :rocks

Something I found today that you might already be aware of but new to me.   When you go the the primegrid website https://www.primegrid.com/  On the first page at the top left there is text that says "Toggle Menu" which opens a Primegrid page with the options at the top of the page.

Ha!! I always have the side pane open.
I actually didn't know about the toggle button the REMOVE the side pane. I don't think I'd like it without the side panel.
