News about this project has been kicking around for some time and I do not know when it will start beta work. Recently I have seen references to it in several scientific publications. The servers are now running which is encouraging. I was able to find a more complete explanation on what it will do from the Polish site that will be the project administration:

"GAVIP-GridComputing

We have started negotiations with ESA to begin the works on a new project called GAVIP-GridComputing. GAVIP-GC is a distributed computing platform that will provide processing power for scientific analysis of data gathered by ESA Gaia mission. Access to Gaia data will be provided by GAVIP, which is an already deployed tool (http://docs.gavip.science/) that allow scientists to submit and share algorithms for extracting and analyzing Gaia data.

In turn, GAVIP-GC will enhance the potential of GAVIP as will solve one of the main constraints of the platform, namely the lack of processing power provision for highly CPU demanding processes. Volunteer network will be created as a BOINC project (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/), which provides a robust structure for collaborative networks.

The duration of the project is 24 months, and our observatory will develop all the required software as a prime contractor. The budget of the project is 200 kEUR.
GAVIP-GC is the sixth ESA project realized by our Observatory in the framework of
Space Situational Awareness programme."

Apparently the project is now funded for 24 months. I will keep an eye on it as it sounds promising and a bit like MW project.

When they get a proper url, or they are added to BoincStats I will add them to the forum.  I see the Team has been created and I have added an account for myself.

There are beta (more like alpha) wu's available for this project now. Apparently they are Linux only as I only get them on Ubuntu machines. Per the admin. stat's export has been enabled. The home page has a URL now (giaiathome.eu) but internally it still defaults to http://150.254.66.104/gaiaathome/

I will not know if the stat's export works until tomorrow. Strange that it is a EU project but does not have an export consent in preferences. Run times are ~ 1 hour; deadline 1 week.

Run it at your own risk.

Addendum: ~ 25 credits/hr

I confirmed stat's are being exported. They are showing up in Free-DC but not yet in BOINCStats. Willy has been informed.

I have finished 153 of them with no invalids or errors. Credits are average, run times vary.

This might have been interesting being another space project but boo to Linux only
