Yes I have an older card (9800GT) and it seems to be around 30% faster.  More importantly it seems to be much more reliable - I had stopped doing GPUGRID because of the number of WUs that errored out (mostly after doing a considerable amount of work :cry2:).  So far with the new app I've only had one error WU and I think that was because of a power failure.

2010-11-04: GPUGRID - For Fermi-CUDA3.0 users.
If you have a GTX400 series card and are using our cuda30 application, please not that we have now deprecated it and only cuda31 applications will be distributed.

To keep receiving workunits you need to update to CUDA3.1 drivers (256. or newer).

thanks,
gdf

These are killers. They are commng in at high priority and checkpointing like crazy.

2010-12-14: GPUGRID - Long WUs are out - 50% bonus
Double sized WUs are out: *variant*_long* and include a bonus of the 50% on the credits.

I compled 2 of the new monster IBUCH wu's. Both took about 21 hours on a GTX260 and received 33K credits. Also upload files are much smaller.

Are these sprt of credits only available on GTX 4XX series cards? or will GTX275 get them as well ?

As far as I know they are all gone. There were so many complaints about long run times, they only put out one batch. In GPUGrid you cannot specify which projects you want to run ... it's all or nothing. A lot of people didn't want to get them. It was nice while it lasted. I ran mine on GTX260.

Proposed GPUGrid changes:

The changes will be mostly on usability for GPUGRID users. Planned changes (we cannot guarantee to have them all, but we will try):

1) Project preference for running the app at higher priority than normal (higher speed)

2) Project preference for using 1 core to control the GPU (equivalent to current SWAN_SYNC=0)

3) Having two applications, acemd_long and acemd. acemd_long will have longer workunits, you can opt out of it in project preferences. Longer WUs will give relatively more credits per hour.

4) All new WU will be shipped with the same options of the current DHFR1000, so they will be generally faster.

5) Higher GPU usage in general (closer to 99%)

Planned release in mid February.

GPUGrid now has its badges up and running. Has anyone figured out to import them into a signature? Or is that possible yet?

Thanks much Dingo. I added it here but most of my other sigs have run out of space.  :hbang:

I tried to do some work on my GTX 275's but had errors on two work units and only got one to validate so I will give it a miss for a while.

Big news from GPUGrid.  :yes

https://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=4588

but omens of bad news too.

"Fixing bugs with BOINC is relatively pointless from our perspective (and time-intensive). We are considering rather other options like moving out of it, but don't ask when or how as it's more an idea than a scheduled plan.

I am sorry for those inconveniences that this causes.

The reason we cannot address technical issues with BOINC is that we don't have anyone in the lab anymore who knows his way around it and that priorities are higher on getting scientific work done. Of course you have a point that this will eventually bite us in the ass since we won't be able to do scientific work without crunchers but it's a tricky thing to manage."
