Just noticed that the screensaver for Uncovering Genome Mysteries has the Uni of NSW logo on it.  They must be participants in the science somehow.  Always good to see Aussie Universities being part of BOINC.

Theres a new WCG sub-project called Help Stop TB.

"Tuberculosis is one of the world's most prevalent and deadly infectious diseases. Researchers from the University of Nottingham, UK, have partnered with World Community Grid to take a close look at the bacterium that causes tuberculosis, so that scientists can develop more effective treatments."

I started running some ... run time is ~ 14 hours on my machines. Looking good.

I ticked the box before bed last night but no work yet.  14 hours is a long time, but it is good science.

EDIT:  I had my settings set to "Minimum work buffer" set to .50 days so I am guessing that is why I didn't get any work.   Reset to 1.00 to see if I get some or one at least.

Just downloaded my first TB task now (but I'm running other WCG projects too).

Saw this on the WCG forum:

"Runtime for the work units will vary. Some of the first ones will be long, however we will have faster ones similar to what we saw in the recent betas also.

Thanks,
-Uplinger"

New Zika project at WCG. Plenty of wu's on this one unlike TB. Run time around 2-3 hours. Same old low credits.  biggrin

JugNut

Nice that'll come in handy for the AA   As for the credits I have no idea why they don't jack them up a bit.  They say they need more crunchers, well jacking up the credit rate even only by 50% would be the easiest way of all to attract some.

Awakened to find they are out of work.  :furious:  I don't know why I keep trying to run their junk.   Back to PG for me.

Edit: Uplinger just put another batch in the feeder. This should last through the weekend.

EDIT: Out of work again. I'm done with it.

Haha, caught me too. I must be a goose, it got me twice, think I'd know better with WCG by now. :pcwhack:
We can only trust the scientists doing the research are more organised than those who administer the BOINC servers.

Will give WCG a miss for now and have another go at Zika badge hunting for the AA.
