Title: New Intel CPU
Post by: Mike Mitchell on April 25, 2011, 05:28:39 PM
Did anyone know that Intel had released a 10 core, 20 thread, processor? See here (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=53580&processor=E7-8870&spec-codes=SLC3E).  :shock

Nice! I'm impressed enough with the 990X and it's 6 core, 12 thread. Have you seen the price though. Tray 1ku Budgetary Price $4616.00

Funny how we always want things to go faster, the first thing I thought was "I wonder if I could overclock that?"  ::)

I bet when they are purchased one at a time the price will be around $10K.

Instead of overclocking I looked at how many can be used at a time, 8. That's 8 x 10 x 2 = 160 threads.   :jester:

"Would you like a little overclocking with that?"

Aha, I just noticed those decacores last night. I was looking up 6 core Xeons, such as W3670, W3680 and W3690 when I spotted them at the bottom of the wiki page. This interest was spurred by the price reduction of i7 970. $600 is still too high for me but I'm keeping my eye on them and may pounce if they drop lower and Bulldozer disappoints.
