Yes it does come over this way. They have a twitter feed that announces when/where it is passing too. One of my friends in Melbourne saw it go over early in the evening this week.
It somehow makes our planet feel a bit smaller when you can things like that in space with your own eyes!

I didn't think the ISS came over the south near us. I will have to keep an eye on the online ISS flyby site (http://www.spaceweather.com/flybys/country.php) to have a look. When I was in Canada you can see it go over at night with the naked eye it is so bright.
there is a passing of the IIS here on October 2nd (also the next few nights after that... at similar brightness) , at 7.17 at night (will be dark enough) with a magnitude of -2.8 !! so plenty bright and should be clearly visible !

I saw it go by in the middle of the day in Canada. The sun shining off all their solar panels makes it bright. I will have to try and remember to have a look.
