What URL are you using to attach and which version of BOINC?
BOINC 6.6.9
Tried ataching to http://www.gpugrid.net/ (http://www.gpugrid.net/) and edited it myself with http://www.gpugrid.net/index.php (http://www.gpugrid.net/index.php) the first one is the one u click in attach to projects.
Edit:This was working fine till this afternoon after a net outage.
Edit2:I can connect to other boinc projects so i dont think its a boinc problem as such
"The URL you supplied is not that of a BOINC-based project" message can be given for a number of reasons other than what it actually says.
Here are some possibilities:
Problem with project server such as misconfiguration or excessive congestion.
Activity has been set to "Network activity suspended".
URL cut and pasted into the box and has a space at the front. Not in this case though if the preconfigured URL is not working.
Firewall that is blocking the connection.
ISP that is doing something funny which delays or reroutes the connection (transparent proxy). This may cause the socket to close before the reply is received from the server. This problem can sometimes affect only one or two projects while all the others work fine. In the past this has been reported to sometimes happen with AOL in America and TPG in Australia. Can try setting http 1.0 instead of 1.1 in BOINC. Not sure how to do this, it was in the old forum somewhere.
Something going wrong with DNS on your computer or with your ISP DNS server. Can try flushing DNS or using different DNS server from another ISP.
Something that is causing delay on your network or the ISP network that is causing the socket to close before acknowledgement is received. A project server that is very busy and takes a long time to respond could possibly have this problem while other projects worked OK. Can try reconfiguring your network and/or lowering your MTU.
Ok im scared this sounds like its gonna be a major pain to work out lol.
Edit: Scratch all that today it connected fine must have been a short term problem that solved itself. Oh and im still waiting on my GTX295 OC card it looks like it may even be more than a week away now :(
although a bit slow, I put a spare gt9500 in one of these linux boxes, but GPUgrid says now work available for this computer ! the cad has crunched GPU grid on one of the kids machines before...
have I forgotten to do something ??
That error message has been coming up from time to time and Ignasi has had to alter something on the server to fix it. However, with Linux you also need to install additional files for GPU Grid to work called build-essential. You can install this via Synaptic or terminal.
Odd I didn't install build essentials on my server and its working. Have your checked if the card is showing up when boinc starts up as a co-processor?
