Anyone else having trouble getting ATI work units?
No problems so far Lawry. Got my last batch 3 hours ago.
Thanks Tin Man. My 3 machines are reporting that there are no ATI tasks. Bugger, something is crook in Tullarook. :compbash: :furious: etc.
Oooops sorry Tullarook. Finger problems in preference. Deselected Run test applications? - so it did. Bashhead Bashhead Bashhead
Don't worry Lawry your not the only one. Who knew ATI work units are still considered "test app's"? I can remember yanking out more than a few hairs the day it happen to me. :blush1:
All's well that ends well, as the saying goes. Glad things are back to normal. :thumbsup:
Here I am trying to sort out my video cards and new drivers and bugger me if the processing times don't all double. OK restore the old drivers etc etc etc etc etc etc etc and whoa there horse they are still taking twice as long.
Hey Lawry better go onto the web page and see what is happening. No nothing there, Hmmm am I having a pensioner moment?
So folks. am I having a pensioner moment or are the work units taking longer?
Think its a new batch of Work units Lawry. Up to yesterday they all started as ntim. Since then all start with md5 and do seem to be taking double the time to complete. Hope this helps. Mike
Yep what Tin Man said. The WU's with the "12345678 md5_mix..." in the file name are the slow one's & the ones "12345678 ntlm_mix....." are the quicker ones that we've seen up till now. They do both from time to time apparently & another called "12345678 mysqlsha1_mix......" I think as well. There's still some of the quicker WU's mixed in but not even enough to even cherry pick. (if anyone would do such a thing)
It caught me before & it almost caught me again this time, before it finally dawned on me what was wrong. Changing the drivers must just be a coincidence i'm afraid Lawry. These are the things that are sent to try us.
@How goes the crunching Tin Man? All good I hope?
Thanks Mike, JN. Was hoping it was something like that, just a coincidence I was trying out the new Catalyst driver at the same time.
Cheers
@ JN. All good at the moment thanks.
Steady but consistent progress without pushing things too hard. World ranking is up by 100 which is good to see as it had fallen to 850ish when i moved back to the UK and my computers were on the high seas or stuck in transit for 4 months. Have reached the rank of 30 in the UK in the Country Stats. Fingers crossed for the low to mid 20's in the next year.
In the meantime happy crunching to yourself and all team members. I'm intending to stay as a member of a great team for as long as you'll have me
All excellent news Tin Man :thumbsup: Keep up the cracking pace mate.. :crazy
And don't be a stranger
Cheers ..JN..
Anyone else run out of rainbows. I Ran dry about 4 hrs ago and can't get a one ???
Yep, and one of my PCs bombed out all DistRTgen wus with computation failure. On to POEM for a while methinks.
Thanks mate :thumbsup:
I was starting to think my PC had lost the plot, because I couldn't find anything about it on there forums + there's 10k worth of WU's waiting to be sent. Of course they don't give you the break down so they could be 10 thousand Nvidia or CPU WU's. Who knows?
Let me know when someone gets some.. Cheers ..JN..
I've got a few but not as many as normal ::)
Me too but they are taking longer to process.
EDIT: Different WuS. These are mysqlsha1_loweralpha-numeric etc. Not seen them before.
There back alright but..... Like Lawry says much longer crunch times, like 100% longer for the latest batch with my HD 7970.
The old
ntlm = 7mins 40secs
last ones
md5 = 9mins 15secs
New ones
mysqlsha1 = 18mins 35secs
I havn't had one validate yet but if the credit stays the same as before it's bye bye to rainbows for me..
Roughly 700 credits a minute should make you happy. :drool:
Oooh sounds tempting..
How much per WU Lawry? I still havn't had one validate yet. ???
My over all daily credit is way down, because of this and other unrelated misbehaving PC adventures...
I think No1 i7 is getting close to being put out to pasture. Luckily for me my new i7 3770k is all most ready to be assembled when the last parts arrive. Not a bad platform to build with (z77) some nice savings can be made too, and for similar porformace as well to x79. Err all going to plan that is.. (we'll see) :wink
Crunch on.. ..JN..
Nope ripped off again
The old
ntlm = 7mins 40secs --- Original & highest paying
last ones
md5 = 9mins 15secs --- Same credit for 30% more work (in other words 30% less credit)
New ones
mysqlsha1 = 18mins 35secs ---- This time 100% more work for 41% more credit (in other words another 59% less credit)
At this rate if they keep changing work unit types another 4 or 5 more times we'll be giving them credit :furious:
EDIT: to correct math
Any one else getting rainbows? Haven't had any in days... nothing on there forums either ??? ???
Their work generator has been off for the last few days according to their server status. Reckon all there is are resends. Have no idea why
Thanks Tin Man, yea another odd thing is on there boinc home page they have a large ticker timer counting down about the rainbow resurrection challenge ends in 83 days, 6hrs : 40min's ect ect. I was in that challenge it was in April last year an went for 3 days only WTF ???
The games afoot my dear Watson... It's Moriarty to blame, I'll bet my pipe on it.. :jester:
All the best JN
Rainbows have work again.
:cheer1: biggrin :cheer1:
EDIT: :cheer1: New WU's "mysqlsha1_mixalpha-numeric-all-Plus..." type. Crunch time's have been cut in 1/2, it may have been worth the wait. We'll have to wait & see about credit situation?
EDIT 2: Same credit as before. But because 1/2 the time needed = Much better credits situation. Again so far... So unless they change back in line with the past.. as of now, happy days are here again:-)
