Title: Earthquake
Post by: Mike Mitchell on January 13, 2014, 11:45:34 PM
Today, Monday 13 Jan 2014, just before 4:00 PM, I was lucky enough to survive the great quake of 2014. Both shaken and stirred, I stumbled around the living room trying to escape the carnage. The TV remote dropped to the floor, I yelled at the neighbours to "shut up or I'd call the cops!" when I realised even they don't make that much noise. After a mind numbing 7 seconds the rumbling stopped. Fortunately, most of the houses content was intact. Stuff was everywhere, as it normally is.

I picked the remote up from my lap, turned the volume back up and grabbed my beer from the floor, where I'd put it before the disaster and went on watching telly.

It'll take me years to recover but I'll soldier on. After all, I'm getting used to it, this is the third quake since moving here.

Click here for the quake (http://www.ga.gov.au/earthquakes/recentQuakes.do?when=1&where=2&which=false&x=31&y=10). It's WSW from Melbourne.  v:

I wonder if they will make a movie of the "Great Quake of 2014".  Hope so, who will play the role of Mike Mitchell?

Paul Hogan, maybe Peewee Herman?

Pheww... I see you followed the disaster protocol perfectly Mike.

1st..  Put beer on floor to minimize alcohol loss.
2nd.. Kiss your butt goodbye.
3rd.. Scream loudly (but not like a sheela)as world is coming to an end.
4th.. Realizing all is well.  Check beer is safe.
5th.. Turn on TV to see what the f@*%k happened.
6th.. As all is well in the world again, get another beer.

biggrin

Sorry Sean, in a rush I put up the regular aussie version instead of the cruncher's version.  I bow my head in shame :cry2:

Actually I did check the computer but it was to see if the quake had registered on the GA website.

Just noticed, it's been increased to a 2.8 magnitude, making it a "significant" event. That'll make my PTSD even harder to overcome. I better get more beer.  :yahoo:
