Title: intel gpus and low powered devices
Post by: turbo0 on May 13, 2015, 03:14:12 PM
Hi all. Was just wondering if anyone knew any projects supporing opencl intel gpus. Im playing around with low powered crunchers and got a intel baytrail pumping away on 4 cores but wanted to see if I could utilize the gpu aswell. With the cost of power these days I can't afford to run my old pc 24/7.
Has anyone else go boinc running on phones or other low powered boxes. Does the output seem worth it?

I know that Seti has it as an option in their preferences and they look to have the Windows application for Seti V7.  http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps.php (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps.php)

I have never tried it as I do not have a (opencl_intel_gpu_sah)

I have two i7s which have Intel GPUs.
I mainly use the GPUs for seti@home.
If seti@home doesn't have any work I use them for Einstein@home.
They work nicely.

This website lists the platforms supported by the various BOINC projects ...

It mentions Intel GPUs, Android and others.

Perfect thanks guys thats the info I was looking for. See what this tiny 3W tablet can pump out. Its been running 4 cores 24/7 at 1.6ghz and barely gets warmer than 40°. Not the most powerful processor but hard to beat for performance to power usage. Also running 6 ARM phone cores on andriod too but they run much hotter even with a modest undervolt.
