Title: Sun Crosses Celestial Equator Today
Post by: Dingo on September 23, 2025, 03:22:45 PM
Sun Crosses Celestial Equator- Going into Spring today

For some reason Australia always says it is the 01st of September, but that is not correct.

The September equinox is the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator—an imaginary line in the sky above Earth's equator—from north to south. This happens on September 22, 23, or 24 in most years.

Equinox Local Time & Date

In Sydney, New South Wales, Australia: Tuesday, 23 September 2025 at 4:19 am AEST

This corresponds to Monday, 22 September 2025 at 18:19 UTC.

Spring has sprung!!!

I think that 1 September date is purely for convenience. I can't think of any other reason as to why. People just say the first of the month.
