Project Summary

One puzzle. A global search.

Eternity II is a famous edge-matching puzzle: 256 unique pieces must form a single 16 × 16 board. The number of possible arrangements is immense. Finding a better board takes persistence, mathematics, and a community willing to search together.

Our goal
We are building an open community effort to push the best known Eternity II score further. Every matching edge matters. A board with 467 matched edges or more would be a major milestone, and every computer can help explore the enormous space between today's best candidates and that next discovery.

1. Receive
BOINC gives your computer a small, independent part of the search. You choose how much CPU time it may use.

2. Explore
The Eternity II solver applies the project's optimized search methods to test promising arrangements and prune impossible branches.

3. Share
Completed work returns to the project, where results are checked and strong boards become part of the collective progress.
