Some days I feel like an old fart!  My tastes vary a bit; I'm currently listening (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxmyXAR_4fY) to a band you've probably never heard of...

Anyway you can follow my listening at http://last.fm/user/shipw/ (http://last.fm/user/shipw/)

hey Wikiwill... Bachelors from Prague dont make you an old fart.... !!

My fave (thing to do ) in music at the moment is a number of remixes I am working on of my favourite Talking heads tracks and some remixes/ sample work of selected songs from people ranging from Madonna (who doesn't know her name), to Angelique Kidjo ( a surprisingly funky African pop Goddess..)

If I can remember my log on info for my "Myspace" Artists page, I'll post a link when I upload "my latest work".

Thanks for that one Dataman.  Dire Straits is one of my favourite bands, up there with The Police.  It's likely that Money For Nothing was the first recorded music I bought, I just can't remember  :blush1:

H&C - another favourite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H2Dl4bfySM)

Not that I'm suggesting MK is anywhere near past it (did he ever sing on key), but that's what Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XVVZPefbR4) is for :D

Woodtock is 40 years old today 15 Aug 09.  I was 19 at the time, and had just missed out on Nation Service, a lottery I am glad I lost.  I joined the regular army in 72 but Australia pulled out of Vietnam not long after my first posting to a combat unit.  Back to when I was 19, I was living in a big 5 bedroom house in Canberra, down the road from the Jamison Inn in Macquarie.  I had long, long hair and side burns, and was lean and mean and worked hard and played harder.  The Jamison Inn, Wellington Pub ( No longer there), the Ainslie( was converted to the canberra bus station), and the Dickson pub were the stomping grounds.  There were 3 guys and up to 6 girls living in the house, more after parties.  One of the best periods of my life.

What a great post! Thanks so much for for that. I know every one of those songs like I know my National Anthem. +1 fer'sure! Far out and solid, Bro!

I hope you partied for me too.  :worship I missed all the big events of 1969 (like the moon landing too). When Woodstock happened I was in Nam ... probably in some sh!t-hole boonies West of Da Nang. I knew the moon landing was going to happed but did not know it was sucessful for a day or two. I knew nothing about Woodstock until weeks later. All-in-all, I'd rather have been at Woodstock.

I missed out on nation service for Vietnam which was a lottery in Australia.  Te government drew out a few dates, maybe 4 from each month and if you were 19 and born on those dates you were in and after a few weeks training you were in the mud in nam.

I joined the regular army in 72 but Australia pulled out of Vietnam later that year, but I stayed in for 22 years.

I would not liked to have been in your boots.
