How hot was it in Sydney last night? My farm has not been crunching for a few days because of this weather!
How hot? Too hot! (was that a line from Remember The Titans?)
I'm still running everything but the place is very warm. I expect a thermal shutdown any day now :( Luckily the forecast is for a cooler end to the week.
It's a bad time of year for crunching. To top it off I was exploring my council's GIS data last night and discovered I'm in a high bushfire risk zoning. I'd better find out more. Looks like it's because I'm within 150m of a very small pocket of bushland.
We had 38 here yesterday, but since around 7.30pm last night weve been getting sporadic thunder storms and heavy rain, its 8.40am and its still raining, this will do wonders for the fires that have been burning in the mallacoota area for the last 3 weeks.
Our thermometer outside (unde the eaves so not in sun) was showing 41 C yesterday - we are in Penrith.
Luckily, my computers share the "downstairs" room with the dogs, and the aircon is on all day in heat like this.... its actually sorta cool in here.
i'm close to /ding ;) main beast is back online........not looking forward to my electricity bill ;)

Sheesh that's hot, by the seaside on the Central Coast we only got to 36C - no Air Con needed :crazy - our highest on record this month was 43.8°C, wasn't toooooo long ago either - 1st Jan, 2006
I have empathy for your heat. Mine will be here in June. Lovely wet stuff falling from the sky for the last two days. I've got 1.53 inches in the last two days. It's warm (12C) in the foothills but lots of snow in the high country. I too am dreading my electric bill this month. :shock
Going to make a run @ 1M tonight now the weather has cooled down ;) Farm is 100% back online biggrin
It's been relatively cool here on the NSW/QLD border. Hasn't gone over 31C for a couple of months ;D. Late Winter/early Spring was actually hotter.
The messed up seasons have really screwed up the Passionfruit here on the farm. They usually set their fruit around September/October so we're busy picking from mid December on. But this year they set a small crop early then it got too hot & dry so they didn't set anymore until November. As a result instead of being flat out picking I've been sitting on my arse twiddling my thumbs for the last few weeks.
We had a little storm come through last night, so the puters were turned off, mainly cause was out on the balcony and witnessed this amazing flash of light followed almost instantaneously by the loudest clap of thunder I've heard for quite a while. So went to bed with lightning lighting up the monstrosity next door and actually found it hard to go to sleep with the quietness when the storm/thunder wasn't active.
and am slowing down output in readiness for departure, so will have at least two more quiet nights. Weird what the human brain can get used to, isn't it?
Damn heat killed the monitor cable if that's actually possible? :boom:
I thought it was something major like the graphics card at first, since the pc locked up on me. Then brought the puter to the shop and it was fine.
So we knew it was the monitor, I was close to buying one. Then though one last check to make sure.
I had to go to an other shop so I could get them to get me a corsair h50 closed loop water colling kit, since of the crazy heat were having.
And brought the monitor cable since I had a feeling it could be that.
So the pc is finally back up and I need a strong :drink: after all that.
Damn I spoken to soon I think, I need a second fan for the h50 to do the Push-Pull effect :compbash:
