Don't understand Twitter? Join the club. Here's a piece in New Matilda that explains it, and how to use it. Click here. (http://newmatilda.com/2010/10/29/ben-pobjie039s-guide-twitter)
Ah yes, Ben Pobjie dabbling in New Matilda as opposed to The Drum on ABC.net.
He does make a few interesting points, but I am still anonymous (having found out how to revert to anonymity in the 'new' twitter set-up) but am getting ready for my next week of having one ... hm make that two hands on the keyboard as ABC FM present the Classic 100 (re-jigged) until next Sunday Morning when the world will learn who or what is Number One Classical piece.
And that's it for this plug other than commences at 9.05AM tomorrow morning at #78... appropriate when you think about it *grin*

Anonymous? On the internet?! Either you are kidding, or you are a dog (or a wombat) biggrin (eg http://social.implu.com/t/Furlozza and http://tagwalk.com/Furlozza for a start)
Google and identity mapping sites have too good a memory for these things, and like Facebook, Twitter has no erase button.
I'm looking forward to the Classic100 top ten though :)
Yes, anonymous as I am known as Furlozza... not Jo.......... damn nearly revealed me real name LMAO
I deleted my Twitter account about a week ago. I wasn't using it anyway, never got into it. I still have a facebook account but it is under my real name.
i dunno, call me old fashioned, or even a social media luddite, but i just can't get my head around why people broadcast themselves to everyone everywhere all the time (except here but WE'RE different! biggrin
Don't have Twitter - only went there once
Do have defunct Facebook - but only used it for the first week about 2 yrs ago
i kinda like the idea of just having a cuppa with someone, or a beer, or a sanga and chatting face to face - electronics just can't beat those needed facial expressions. i even like writing letters, and getting them back, but all this electronic instant gratification look at me all the time stuff kinda takes all thinking out of communication?
Dang, all these anonymous thoughts i had kept are out!!!
Well, have a Facebook account under another pseudonym but rarely use it.
As for Twitter, it is mainly used for the #Classic100's. I Find it interesting to see what others think about pieces and also get the odd links to further my knowledge about artists/composers.
Plus there are some folks who, like me, are classic100 regulars and it is nice to "see" them once every twelve months LOL
Apart from the occasional post here, And the odd Email, I dont really have the need OR the desire to be involved with the online version of Neighbors or Days Of Our Lives,
I like Vajras idea of doing things the OLD way, but i like to do it with a bit of style,
If you like the hand-made "MASCULINE" stuff, Have a look at these,

Ooooh, nice - i'll have to dust off the old quill and then see if i can find my bottle of 'Quink'
PS - talking of Facebook - here's an article (http://www.businessspectator.com.au/bs.nsf/Article/Facebook-The-Social-Network-Zuckerberg-Kristy-Fras-pd20101029-AP237?OpenDocument&src=mp) about the dangers of it (well, some) to business employees.
I use facebook basically every day and have been for about 2 to 3 years ... agreat way for me to chat away to people I have met online and I have made quite a few "good" friends even met up with a cpl of them.
If you set up your account properly and you aren't as mindless as a 13 year old kid, it's not too bad.
As for twitter... my daughter is into it and it pisses me off how much time she spends on it... as Vajras said, why a personn feels the need to broadcast their "every though and action" all day everyday is just beyond me, as is why someone would want to "follow" their posts...
I enjoy my time on facebook, though I must admit I got a bit "over hooked" for a while... now its just 20 or 30 mins twice a day.. or a little more.. when relaxing with a cuppa... sorta like now ....
I use facebook, well log in to facebook, every day. My children and even grandchildren are on there and also my friends in Canada. I do have it set up fairly strict as far as security goes and I never use any of the applications that distribute your information, which is all of them. I also use Skype every day to talk to my partner as she is still in Canada and we can see each other and talk on Skype. It also is free and saves a bunch of money on phone calls. My kids are also on Skype but hard top get a hold of them !!

Heh - I'm much the opposite. I've never gotten into Facebook - everything that gets posted to it is just an automated sync of my Twitter feed and I don't know how people find the games so darn attractive (and eventually, addictive). My details are locked down unless you're a 'friend'
On the other hand, I use Twitter as a mix of news (both proper - thx @abcnews - and the general happenings of a few "celebs") and friends (both RL and those overseas via open-source stuff). Depending on who the person at the other end is, I find it interesting to see how other people live (a few of the blogs I subscribe to are based on that same idea). On the other hand, although I'm keeping an eye on Twitter most of the day, I only tweet (https://twitter.com/st_au) (on average) once a day - not the mundane things, but (I guess) what might be the 'highlights'.
And twice this afternoon, I heard a race call to end all race calls.
The Call (http://www.abc.net.au/classic/classic100/10years/schedule.htm)
Click on the Tues 2 - 1.00-5.05 win/rp button and sit back and enjoy 4=hrs of great music, PLUS the race.
Direct link to race (http://www.abc.net.au/classic/classic100/10years/audio/classic100invitational.ram)
EDIT: Hopefully added direct working link to "The Classic 100 Invitational - The other great horse race" (Real player version)
I don't have a radio or boom box so I hook the laptop up to the HDTV and find a channel I want to listen to from here (http://www.ausradiostations.com/fmnsw.html).

I dont think I have gotten past the first click on one single link to any Facebook game.. as soon as it asks to allow it to my details etc I know it will probably end up sending spam to all my friends on FB.
I get so many "messages" or wall updates from people saying "check me out in this crazy video!", or "I used the "xxx" application from HERE, and it was unreal !" ... and all because they play those inane games...
even APART from the possibilities of spam I just hate that style of game anyway... sorry.
I had to slow down on Facebook a while back, as I got right into trolling particular groups (usually fan groups of people like Justin Bieber, or mega WOW fan groups etc) - anyone who was easy to bait.. geez it was fun !
but I ended up sitting up until all hours, and had a little "army" of amazing trolling ID's ... >:D
Now I just spend a little while each day catching up, mostly dog stuff, Bonsai stuff and any news from friends - and it's a good way to make sure I dont forget birthdays etc
