Title: no user activity
Post by: stevenm on December 12, 2010, 06:26:40 PM
Does anyone know what this means?  Well I think I know what it means, but how can you stop it?  I'm participating in the AA but was out all day yesterday so didn't look at any of my machines.  On some of them I found this in the message log:

11/12/2010 9:21:06 PM      Suspending computation - no recent user activity
12/12/2010 3:10:47 PM      Resuming computation

Does this mean what I think it means - that between 9:21 last night and 3:10 this arvo (which is roughly now) when I looked at my machines, nothing was running?   :cry2:

If that's so, then how can it be avoided?  Other than accessing the machine every day.  What if I go away for the weekend?

The setting "Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last" must be set in your preferences. This option allows BOINC to suspend processing so that computers can successfully go into standby.

Perhaps one of your machines has been set to this in "Run based on preferences" and so affects all?

Thanks for that.  It was set to 1440 minutes (1 day).  I must have done that when I was first getting started.  Its a bit confusing having settings that you can make in preferences on one of the project websites, and settings that can be made/modified in BOINC Manager.  I set it back to 0 and clicked on Update in BOINC Manager for each machine, so hopefully that will do the trick.

Cheers.
