I am amazed, I think my mind works a bit differently to everyone else hear, that one I found easy, but then when you all have mentioned other ones as easy, I find very hard.

I find the whole thing amazing. On the ones I find difficult, I search and search and then when I spot it I wonder how I could have missed it. It just jumps out at me. The brain is an interesting bit of machinery. :wink
BTW, I sent Flora Graham, the editor of the briefing at Nature, an email last week suggesting Leif be reduced 50% to make it more difficult to find. I got a very nice non-automated reply which said, among other things, that she would forward the suggestion to Tom Houghton their "penguin wrangler" who puts together the weekly picture. I was surprised, in this day and age, to get an actual response.

I think (just my opinion) the problem is most people look at these on their "stupid" phones with a small screen. On a handheld device it is quite hard to find our mate Leif. On gamers and crunchers big screens, just the opposite. I do enjoy the difficult ones though.

Leif is basking in or around the Deep Creek Hot Springs in the San Bernardino National Forest in California. Leif might be chatting with an endangered arroyo southwestern toad (Bufo microscaphus californicus), which lives in the sandy shore of the creek.

Hi mates. Yep, this time I glanced at the clock when I started and it took 16 min. for me to find him. If you look at the bottom center of the lower left quadrant there is a rock face that sorta looks like him. My eyes kept getting stuck there. :pcwhack:

As usual I can't find him. Even when the results are posted when I look at the original one it is hard to see even when I know where it is. Must be something to do with old eyes and colour blindness. :LD
Yep that was a challenge in itself to find him.
Isn't it strange how some find ones hard and some easy -this one to me was very quick a quick look with my usual scan method and bingo, but some times when other of the group say it was easy I could not find it.
I would put it down to everyone has differences in seeing/perceiving colours, contrast and hues. Certain colours stand out more or less to everyone. Being colour blind might also play a role for those affected. Another gauge might be how well someone sees in the dark - something something rod and cones something something.

They are certainly getting harder for me.
All is good here. Summer is ending and temp's are getting cooler. It has been another strange weather year. We have had a measurable amount of rain in every month except July so far. That never happens. It does not rain here between May and September ... except this year.

Are you kidding me, I thought that would have been way harder than the previous one, but nope found him.
Regarding the previous one, even with the clue, I still had to look twice, blended in real well with the rocks.
Maybe it is something to do with background colouring.

Might have something to with the different light spectrum sensitivty with the eyes rods and cones from person to person; like a form of colour blindness but not actually color blind

Well that wasn't too bad of a one to get, again the background colouring help, a bit of hanging upside down today though lol.
