Ouch, a 295?  They're like $800+   Would love to have one or two of them but I can't justify the cost.   I'm quite happy with my sole 9800GT though.  Adding about 5k a day on its own.

The 280 when i got it was the best out and cost me that too.... i almost cried but meh! thats computers for you. Watch if i buy a 295 something better will come out the day after its the story of my life.  Now if only intel will put out a SLI capable board ill be in hog heaven with multi-gpu setups.  That said im not going NVidia chipsets for my mobo if u pay me lol.  Not to mention the ATI's ive owned have all been a PITA with drivers both 'doze and 'nix

Hmmmmm i hear an i7 calling me.  Top of the range i7 with a few GPU clocked off its head hmmmmm could be nice.  Is the i7 worth it performance wise?  Those things are stpuidly expensive to put it mildly.

I wouldn't get an i7 beyond the basic model (920).  That one can be overclocked to 4GHz anyway.

Save the money or spend it on the graphics card(s).  How about an i7 920 in a mobo with three PCI express slots, each with a decent graphics card (don't bother with SLI/Crossfire if you're going to go top notch cards)

I presume the board you are looking at is the DX58SO, available for between $375 and $582 (Shopbot.com.au), I7 920's from the same source start at $458, and RAM... DDR3 of course  biggrin. Graphics.... 295 has been mentioned?? .... let's say $800 PLUS!!!!

Oh and throw in a Noctua NH-C12P if it comes with a adjustment to fit a 1366 board (a bugger to fit within a Midi.... but if you have a full tower spare......) Or a well.... it all boils down top personal taste.

I went and ordered a 295 for my games machine lets see if my old 550W will run it lol. If not ill have to get another PSU too before i can use it.  The "old" 280 is going into my server lol.  One thing i have noticed is u need to give GPU a massive resource share or it lets the GPU idle which is kinda annoying i only just fixed that here.  Not to mention the time run is kinda strange and bears no relation to GPU time

Edit: Going to 6.6.12 and Ubuntu seems to have solved a fair few of my problems. Also seems to bit a bit faster than under 'doze
