Hi all,

Just after some advice on how to change volume levels on MP3 files. I have a USB stick full of my favourite songs that I play in my car stereo. Most tracks sound good, except some that are "quieter" than others. Any hints on how to boost the volume levels of the quiet tracks?

Thanks!

After some googling around (that sounds bad doesn't it?), I installed Audacity on my Linux PC.

To amplify an mp3 file, load in the mp3 file, then select "Amplify" under the "Effect" menu item. Adjust desired dB and you're done!  See https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-make-audio-files-louder-in-windows/ for more info.

You can also update Amplify to the latest version, by downloading the source code and building from here - https://www.audacityteam.org/download/linux/

Just wanted to add that before you "Amplify" a song, you need to select all of it using Ctrl+A key combo, then Amplify.

Also, Audacity is available for Windows and Mac computers for download.
