• Welcome to BOINC@AUSTRALIA FORUM.

News:

The Forum I have installed from the host is a mix of different versions and I have been fighjting for two days to get it to work.  I have decided to do a fresh install and not use any of the files from the host I do not need.  I am going to be doing this this evening.  None of the board posts rom today will be there when I update it.  Sorry for the confusion but I want the forum to work properly.

QuantumFIRE alpha does scientific research in Quantum Foundations, Solid State Physics and Quantum Chemistry. It is based at the Theory of Condensed Matter (TCM) group in the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge.

Cambridge Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) research program
Foundations of Quantum Mechanics

QuantumFIRE alpha is a test project that serves to prepare the official release of QuantumFIRE. The project is strongly connected to QMC@HOME with regard to Quantum Chemistry and shares the same main developer Martin Korth. But while QMC@HOME is dedicated to Chemistry, QuantumFIRE will be mainly concerned with Physics, especially with Pilot Wave Theory and the Foundations of Quantum Mechanics.

The Cavendish Laboratory - Among the first generation of physics graduate students were Ernest Rutherford and Charles Wilson, who, along with JJ Thomson, were to win Nobel prizes for their researches. The discovery of the electron by Thomson, the invention of the Cloud chamber by Wilson, the discovery of artificial nuclear fission by Rutherford are examples of the extraordinary advances in experimental technique which ushered in what became known as modern physics. As well Francis Aston discovered the isotopes of the chemical elements, Patrick Blackett first photographed artificial nuclear interactions, James Chadwick discovered the neutron and John Cockcroft and Ernest Walton carried out the experiment which produced the first controlled nuclear disintegrations induced by accelerated high energy particles, as well as proving experimentally for the first time that E = mc2.

Applications run on the following platforms:

  • Microsoft Windows (98 or later) running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU
  • Linux running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU
  • Linux running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU
