I'm a  bit like dataman's last post, but for me if forgetting was an olympic sport i'd win gold every time. *LOL*
So just one loan for for me this month, nothing as grand as a horse like kashi's loan,  just some poop in a cart. (Loan for fertilizer & wheel borrow) :wink

So sad to report this.

I reported this loan :Eric in Uganda to Kiva via contactus. The issue here is that the proposed activity is not only illegal in Uganda (regulations here) but it's also a health hazard to not only the borrower but his entire community.

Regrettably, Kiva invoked their "cultural neutrality" mantra and refused to reject the loan.

I have no alternative as I see it than to cease my support of Kiva. Of course, unfortunately it's the other borrowers that I could have supported that bear the cost.

The idea of dumping asbestos on rented land did my head in.

Yeah that's pretty shocking... also I wonder how much of that Asbestos originated in Uganda? Or if it has been shipped there?  :hbang:

edit: I made a post on their facebook page, hopefully now the right people take notice?

You have probably got this email as well but for those that haven't I received and email saying that for today only some loans will be matched by an anonymous donor so a $25 loan will become a $50 loan.

The email says today only. I'm not sure what time zone they mean but I received the email at 8:14pm on the 12/03/2014.
