OK, I give up. The boxes do not turn blue any more and can only see new posts by scrolling "recent threads".  :cry2:

I have been having "network problems" in that a while ago, when going back and forth with exetel trying to sort out the atrocious speeds here, I ended up with no WEP security/ password anymore - and when I tried to "activate" / put in a password, it was very problematic.

Have just bought a new ADSL 2 + modem/ router as we are moving to TPG soon, so I thought I'd have a go at putting a password on this old one again.

Took a while but got it working (after working out (sort of) what a hexidecimal password etc is and went out Thursday night shopping with three of our computers happily working away through the now secure network.

I changed the name of the network from "Dowjac Bassets" to Dowjac Bassets Wireless" simply so I could know WHICH network I was working on whilst trying to put that password/ save/ restart modem etc.

Anyway, got home at 9.30 - none of the computers were connected, "unknown network" etc etc , couldn't even get to anywhere to put IN a password , couldn't even connect to the modem (via cable or wireless) to see what was happening.

Tried power cycling etc and thought I'd try rebooting my main machine - sure enough, a minute or so after rebooting, it connected (this machine is connected via a cat5 cable) to "DOWJAC BASSETS" - which I had "overidden" by changing the network name (ooh - maybe I simply created another ??) and now it works !...
swapped (on the KVM) to the other i7 (wireless) and it is now working (on Dowjac Bassets Wirelss !!) as is the other wireless machine ..

Got no idea what is happening, but I think I will delete all networks/ network "data" from all computers when I crank up the new modem/router.

and, BTW, when this computer rebooted... guess what ????? I know have a functioning "see latest posts since you last logged on" button !!!!   :dance2: :dance2:
