Hi I was wondering if anyone has tried using resources from cloud servers for any boinc projects. I read over on a few folding forums people using HP Cloud Services Beta and getting free access to huge proccessing power

Haven't been using "cloud" myself, but would be interested to see how it couls increase the RAC a bit !

... goggle is my friend ... goggle is my friend ... goggle is my friend ... goggle is my friend ...   :pcwhack:

EDIT:   Found a lot of info on it.. but basically it means out laying even more money .. probably around a minimum of $12 a day (based on approx 56 cents and hour I read in one article) .... hopefully THAt number is completely wrong or I understood it wrong - as that adds up to a bucket load over a quarterly electricity billing period !

Hopefully some one else can read up soon and clear it up... after all, it IS 4 am and I can hardly keep my eyes open..

I did some quick calculations a little while ago, and veebee is on track.  CPU time in the cloud is relatively expensive, I guess as it has a higher resource (cooling, power) load.  I didn't find any economically viable cloud compute service for my BOINC needs.

I read abit more on the HP cloud beta trials and they stopped giving them out to crunchers. Apparently they were giving out access to 2x8 cores at the start and was too much load on the servers. Looked up some pricing and they are quite expensive
