When Opportunity left Earth in 2003, many observers expected the rover to survive no more than a few months on the hostile surface of Mars. 10 years later, Opportunity is still going strong and could be poised to make its biggest discoveries yet at a place named Solander Point.

Amazing machines. Opportunity & Spirit missions were only planned for a 3 month mission and 10 years later Opportunity is still going. Curiosity's mission is planned for just under 2 years. I wonder how long it will go for??

I think as long as they can find the sun facing places in the Martian Winter for the rovers to park they will keep going for a while.
