Project Summary

iThena is a Non CPU Intensive (NCI) application that currently runs for about 30 minutes and uses about 20 seconds of CPU time.

The iThena distributed project concerns experimental mapping of network structures included in the Internet.

The iThena.Measurements subproject has applications:
CNODE (Application performs a sequence of traceroute procedures from client computers. The resulting data is sent back to the server and submitted to the main database, where it can be further analyzed);
PERF (Application performs network analyses on network bandwidth tests);
OONI Probe (OONI Probe application wrapper).

Data Visualisation

Maps for last hops (map generated every 1h (5000 routes) and every 3h (20000 routes)): http://root.ithena.net:8080  The page automatically refreshes every 120 seconds.
Visualisation based on the Berkeley SETI Research Center solution (SETI@Home - University of California, Berkeley).

Applications

The following applications are supported:

Currently the main supported and recommended platform is x86_64-pc-linux-gnu. After joining the project, accept the download of test/beta applications in the settings (iThena CNode is a Beta application). This can be changed by checking the appropriate box 'Run test applications?' in 'iThena preferences' in your profile after logging in.
