BOINC just disappears

Hi

I'm having a hardware issue with one of my PCs.

Hardware is an Asus LGA1155 ATX board running a i7-3770 CPU. It POSTs fine and boots up to Linux Mint 22.

Now it's main use is as a Plex media server. Also, instead of sitting idle I run BOINC on it. BUT when I leave it overnight, the Boinc client just "disappears" from the Boinc Manager window. No projects, no tasks - nothing. PC is still running and responsive.

Board is a 2nd hand buy off ebay. Now when I built up this PC a few days ago, some of the pins in the CPU socket were bent or out of alignment. I don't know if I had accidentally done this when taking the board out of packaging or if the seller had done so during packing the board. Either way I filed for a return of the money ($40 plue $20 P&H). The seller never replied and the sale had a guarantee from ebay so they eventually paid me back.

I did my best to straighten out the bent pins and then inserted the i7 CPU, added two sticks of 8GB DDR3 and booted up. No go. I had the RAM in slots 1 and 3. BUT when I changed the RAM from slot 3 to slot 2 - it POSTed! I did some googling and discovered that if a board didn't recognise RAM in slots 3 and 4, it was most likely be a "classic" CPU pin alignment problem.

So I removed everything and checked the pins and did my best to get everything looking "good". Still no go in slots 3 and 4 for RAM.

Would the fault in this board be causing the Boinc client to disappear from the Boinc Manager when being left to run overnight? Also, I have my media (movies) on a 8TB SAS hard drive connected to a PCIe SAS controller card. I don't think that the SAS card would cause such an issue but I could be wrong.

EDIT 1: I was running yoyo tasks. The tasks could be an issue. I will try running a different project.

EDIT 2: I have now connected the PC to LODA. My other 2 PCs seem to be running that with no issues.

EDIT 3: Seems to be ok with LODA. PC has been running fine. Also doing a LONG SMART test on one of the 8TB SAS drives. Should finish around 1pm.
