QuoteWorld Community Grid: Research Update from the MCM Team (October 2025)
As we continue to explore top-scoring genes associated with the development of cancer through the Mapping Cancer Markers (MCM) project, we are excited to share a new research update! This article features NELL2 (Neural EGF-Like-Like protein 2), a gene that plays multiple roles in neural development and cell death regulation.

I'm running approx 200 tasks on my machines with continuous replenishment.

As GAIA has run out of work, I'm onto WCG, doing some MCM work.

Well their system must be backed up with work to validate!
At least there's heaps of work.

I'm not getting any work on my Windows Machine with AMD CPU. I checked my WCG profile and activated all projects. But the project is also not even listing my name in my BOINC client.
I removed the project completely from BOINC and re-added it. To no avail.
What may I be missing here?

Mick Lindsay

Matt, all I can suggest is to logon to your profile in WCG and check you have the projects selected, if you already have completed this be patient as at times we are all serviced differently by the overarching architecture. At time I have had no work units but others in the team have plenty and visa versa. I often wonder about the IT personnel in this project.  :driver-crazy

Hi Polaxis,

As Mick suggested, I'd log into your account on WCG and check some of the basics like -
In the overview screen, are you in the BOINC@AUSTRALIA team?
Check to see if you have one or more projects selected (for example you might only have the Open pandemics selected and there's no work) I'm getting heaps of Mapping Cancer markers.

Start with that mate :)

I might start to wind down my work. I'm just not 100% sure if all the credits will come through.
I also didn't realise there's a new sub project - Mapping Arthritis Markers.

I'm always keen for a new badge (if there's any work)

My WCG Account looks like this:

I'm also part of BOINC@Australia according to my profile.

But BOINC still looks like this:

My posts in this forum seemed to have worked. I've got work now :)

LOL that's great news!
Sometimes it can take a while to reconnect. Einstein is a bit like that.

New update from WCG
https://www.cs.toronto.edu/~juris/jlab/wcg.html

What stood out to me was
The backlog of validating completed WU's
and
Expect WU's for Mapping Arthritis Markers soon

Polaxis

Where on the WCG site can you check on the usual project / server statistics?
Like how many WU are ready to be sent out / how many are currently being run?

You can't, the best chance you have is WUProp

Sorry Matt I can't help, back when the project started and was run by IBM all the stats etc were open for all to see and work was constant, when Krembil Labs (now Jurasica Lab) took over the hole project has been a shambles.
