Greetings,

For those that have the WCG statistics in their signature, it won't be updating anytime soon, whilst I was perusing the WCG forums, discovered in a thread, that user SNURK who did these signatures, has not been active since Feb this year.  No one has any idea on what has happened to him either.

Regards

Thanks tazzduke, I've been wondering why there has been no new badges.

What does WCG have left? I mean I don't think I've seen work units for these ones in years. They used to have so many projects, with such variety and heaps of WU's, now they only have African Rainfall Project and Mapping Cancer Markers (the only one I seem to be able to get WU's for)

I kept hoping they would have a new project but those dreams were dashed long ago

Found this on X... (post dated Dec 6 2024)

IMPORTANT: There will be an extended WCG downtime from December 7th, 2024 to January 3rd, 2025.

Workunits production have been stopped.

To keep up to date on any issue, please check https://www.cs.toronto.edu/~juris/jlab/wcg.html

WCG finally back up after a long Xmas down time.  I had a lot of work units to return and they have all uploaded and returned.

My old out of date work units have been returned but nothing has come back so I'm giving WCG a break for a while.

The project seems to be up and running better than ever.  I will be going here after the Primegrid Challenge.  They also didn't take away the "Current Streak" number of days because they were down.  They used to reset to zero whenever they didn't receive a work unit from a user even if the system was down.  I put a ticket in on it so they must have reconsidered.  I am up to 82 days now and my longest before was 31 Days.

Sometimes I check out the WUProp active projects chart to see what's worth crunching or if a project runs out of tasks. One thing I noticed is a new project on WCG. Currently in testing where it's mapping arthritis markers. It's exciting that there is finally a new project

Team FRANCE are RIGHT behind us hey!
As usual though, they have a one man cruncher who solely loves WCG. He's committed to the cause!

Not sure we can keep ahead of them.
