Well, ain't this a nice change, at least on the Central Coast of NSW

Just popped over to the Bureau of Meteorology website and checked out the radar based at Newcastle...... and for the first time in a long time, rain covered all but say 5% of the visible landmass at 3.20PM. The really nice thing about this is that there were no thunderstorms mentioned and as the rain is coming from the north........ and there is a bulk load of it....... where is the smiley for an umbrella??  biggrin

Oh and it mentioned that Bourke had received over 150mm in the 24 hrs til 9.00AM today..... just what the Darling needed, plus

But it is pleasant to hear rain hitting the windows..... although would be nice to go outside for a ciggie  biggrin :wink

veebee

we have had at least 3 inches here.. the pool is nearly overflowing.... better add some more chlorine while I think of it.

and I used to have to do the same thing..going outside to smoke...35 years of it..what a waste of life and money THAT was.. give the rotten things away mate, and you could build yourself a cpl of quads a year !

Humid weather here in Perth.  No point running my (evaporative) aircon as it will only make it worse...

And I gave up smoking 1 September last year.  Should save me something like 2.5 to 3 grand a year!  More than pays for the electricity bills ;D

We have had 10mm of rain for the year so far, and no sign of any coming any time soon.  :cry2:

Rob

We had 105mm yesterday & another 51mm so far today, with temps in the low 20's and strong winds. Done bugger all work the last couple of days because it's too cold & miserable, not to mention boggy. On the plus side though the computers are loving the cool weather biggrin

Tixx

same here, been constant for last week, and no sign of stopping.
good for the grass and plants, but demotivational for me as ive done no work around the house haaha
good to hear u peeps have quit the ciggies, ive tried couple times with varying degrees of success but still on them. actually bout to have one now :)

what was your secret to quitting?

Hypnosis.  Had my session in the afternoon of 1 September.  After the session, I walked past people having a smoke outside. Didn't matter, I had quit and was not even slightly tempted (but liked the smell).

I had given up twice before (with patches and cold turkey).  But hypnosis made it really easy for me.

Perhaps I should start a separate topic for this though :)

It's been like that here in metropolitan Melbourne but the cover is smoke.  :blush1:

damn, so hypno worked for you.

ive had 2 sessions after a mate suggested hypno to me, and u know it didnt do much at all for me. ive tried different patches, gum and tablets.. the champix tablets worked the best for me, spent about 4 weeks off, but as soon as major stress came my way, i was back on them....

veebee

I used the patches (had stopped a cpl times before). But I only spent one week on each strength, as from past experience (9 months off them, and 2 years off them) I know that the CHEMICAL addiction only "last " for 3 to 4 days.. it's the "what the hell do I do after dinner? - what do I do when I finish some "task" etc).

been off 3 years in a cpl weeks... its just a matter of taking a nice clean drag of fresh air whenever I get "an urge"..and remind myself that I'm a non smoker..was BORN a non-smoker and wanna die as one.

And I'm at the point now (have been for a while) where they stink... especially if we have been somewhere where someone smokes.. you get home, and your clothes are putrid from the stench of stale smoke.

Tixx

yeah veebee, youve got it spot on. its not the chemical addiction, but the 'what do i do now' especially in boring situations :)
