There's a new optimised app for Astroplulse version 5 for Linux over at http://lunatics.kwsn.net/

A long time to get credit for the WUs you send in but well worth it for credits/hour.

You could download the windows v5 optimised app and place it in the SETI project folder and restart.
Just check the App info XML file has the same v5 version as the units you're crunching.
The Q5500 should complete them in around 10 hours

Finished 3 in around 50hrs each but the third rudely crashed on me after 53hrs and started again.  I couldnt handle it so i aborted it.  Really rare for me to abort anything.

Question - My CPU is SSE4.1 .... the only optimized Astropulse apps there are SSE3 ... will that still work?

Ifg your CPU has SSE4.1 it most likely also has SSSE3, SSE3 and SSE2.  So it should work fine

Cheers WMY - time to rock on with this one!

The new AP app is great - WU's coming in at around 10hrs for me :jester:

Disclaimer: I haven't run SETI for a few months since last November so a /big/ improvement with the optimised AP since then :)

Yes the AP v5 opti app is one of the big BOINC credit earners at the moment.

A quad should get you around 11,500 points per day. If you're looking to boost your position in the team here's one you should try.

I know my processor is 4.1 SSE or whatever ... I have a Q9550 - but the only v5 AP modded app was for SSE3 .... is there a 4.1 app somewhere?

The Astro WU's are coming in at about 20 hours .... what gives? You guys are talking about doin em in 10!

The sse3 is the only one at this stage.

Are you sure you're crunching the v5 WUs with the v5 app? Revision 112?
The standards Astro WU is a different animal.
Are you overclocking or standard settings?

Furlozza

in Windows, did you also copy over the app_info file?

Also if running in (K)ubuntu, did you change all permissions to boinc/boinc.client for the app as well as the app_info file?

@ Furry: Yes, I copied over the correct files - my BOINC messages tell me that SETI has "found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform"

No Kubuntu - Only Win XP 32

@ Rocoll: The application being used by SETI is the astropulse_v5 5.03 (as listed in my tasks tab). Does this mean BOINC is using the modded app? 19 hours per WU at the moment ... :( I dont know what 'revision' the app is though ??

No overclocking, straight Q9550

EDIT: Maybe this might mean something - in my SETI homepage, for the 'what applications to run' option, I have selected NO to Seti Enhanced units, NO to Astropules, and YES to Astropulse v5 - could this mean anything?

11,500 would be a dream - I am nowhere (nowhere) near this

*cry* :(

Download the latest Lunatics Optimised app here http://lunatics.kwsn.net/
It's labeled v5 5.03 r112 and is on the opening page - there's a linux and a windows download.

When you've copied it into your SETI projects folder don't forget to shut down BOINC and restart.

Even without overclocking you should complete 4 WUs in about 12-14 hours on a Q9500
