G'day acrux, nice to see you on the boards and welcome to BOINC@Australia!

If you need any help with getting the most out of your new system, or anything else for that matter, just post a message.

Have your first dose of "Aussie Karma".  biggrin

Simone

Hello

oh and here is a little something to make you feel well & truly at home while you're in here

Rocoll

+1 from me too acrux.

I lived in Wellington for 4 years and loved it. Great country, great people.

Welcome Acrux ! this is the sort of invasion we dont mind at all..!

I am running an i7 also (Ubuntu 8.10 OS for crunching, Windows for games .... never play games but  !  ) and you're right, they are great.

You'll soon have a nice collection of medals over at WCG at that rate... and move up the rankings within the team quite quickly too I imagine.

Anyways, again .. Welcome, and don't be a stranger.. any questions you have about anything, fire away !

(+1 Aussie Karma for coming on the boards too)

(EDIT: I spent a few weeks there, and it only took THAT long to realise that if I was ever kicked out of Australia, NZ is where I'd be headed...)

Welcome acrux, BOINC@Aus isn't in a crash hot position with respect to WCG, in worldwide rankings, so a dedicated i7 cruncher will be a big help in keeping the team holding on, and perhaps pushing up a position or two.

Well done and +1 to you too .... Kiwis are always welcome!

Acrux - Welcome mate.  :welbor:

I've just added 2x i7's to my Quads and are only running them at standard settings at the moment - need some study to speed them up when the coolers finally get here. At the moment both of them manage to do less work than 1x Q6600.

We might have to get together and maybe do something at WCG when I'm all sorted out.  biggrin

Glad to see you aboard OZ's greatest team.  :rocks

BF

Welcome to the team Acrux, glad you could join us!  As you can see we're a friendly bunch, any questions don't hesitate to ask!

My other half is a Kiwi, so I've been to your side of the ditch a few times.. Great place!

:welcome1:

Welcome acrux, and glad to have you as a member of the Team.  WCG is a very worthwhile project to run that has many worthwhile projects.   It will be great to have you I7 crunching WCG for us.   :welcome1:

Welcome Acrux, I'm proud to share a little space on the internet. Glad to have you in the team. Maybe we should start up an affiliate team, BOINC@NZ?  biggrin

It's soooo cold in Dandenong at the moment I don't need heatsinks and I could overclock the becrap out of the CPU's and not worry. Four degrees Celsius tonight and about the same for the next three nights!

Hi Dave, welcome, and happy crunching with the team!  I hope you'll enjoy it here  ;D

acrux

Hey thanks guys great to have such a huge number of replies, btw yes I do secretly love sheep, just to prove your theory :-)

Yeah the i7 is a crunching beast. I have a really old laptop with a dead screen still crunching, a iMac 24" and a Asus dual core intel laptop all going hard they only ever got about 10 results a day on WCG now I often get over forty!!! That is of course with it throttled back so it's no to noisy as my media center PC :-)

So thanks again for the welcome. Actually be jumping the ditch to go rock climbing in about five weeks in Nowra south of Sydney

I've recently moved from down that way... I imagine you'll be climbing around the Shoalhaven river somewhere.... there are some beautiful rock faces along the river... used to go and stay up the river in my boat and we'd feel like we were back in pre-historic times with the towering rocks around us !

Hope you  enjoy yourself !
