Check this out guys!!

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AntMiner-Bitmain-U1-USB-1-6GH-s-Bitcoin-Miner-X3-BUNDLE-/182412327711?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=J8PlJZOdOQObm5WzCewk82BVyRc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

3 x U1 antminers sold for $268.00!!  :shock + postage.
I think I should sell my 2 x U1's which I bought for $20 a few weeks back. The credits I'm gaining from them is minuscule really.

Edit - I think I'll wait and see actually. The 2 bidders who ran that price up have very low feedback and may have been a bit sus.

Here's a U3 for sale on ebay if you want to buy out of Croatia. 5 available.
Seller has no feedback though........ Think I'll pass.
I noticed he also has an eBay ad to "rent 5 x Antminer U3's. When I asked him about it he said he has 5 for sale and 5 to rent..... all sounds a bit sus for my liking.

Maybe we should start a secondhand Bitcoin miner thread?  :crazy

The price of stick miners is crazy.

I physically id'ed which of the two r-boxes is bad (the one with no status light). Some stats:

Oh well, just the risk of used equipment. The other two stopped moving and I will not get them today. Winter sucks! Got an email from the seller that my R4 ships today.   UPS from New York City so will take a couple of days (or longer).
Seven more days of rain starting Wed. I am sick of it!!!

Hi Dataman,

We have the opposite over here in the east of Australia...... absolute sweat box here in Queensland last week & this week.
I'm just watching the grass grow at a record pace but it's too dam hot to mow it.  :bloodshot

Power bill is going to be HUGE...hence no GPU crunching for a while.

In case anyone's interested, there's a guy selling 5 U3's on eBay in the U.S.A. (Now 3 remaining) USD $70.
I've been in contact with him about possibly buying one but I just can't justify the conversion/freight charges. Looking at multiple options, they all come out with a total cost of close to AUD $200.00....It's just too much for a U3

Direct freight is nearly USD $100.00. Via Shopmate it's not much better. Throw in the lousy exchange rate via PayPal.... :(

Anyhow, I know how much people like the U3's so thought I'd mention it. Someone here might have deeper pockets than me and the seller was very accommodation to all my questions.

:yes Thanks chooka I bought two of them.  It was just over $240 Canadian for the two including freight.  I can't really afford it but I still have the bug for BOINC and when I see others crunching up big numbers I need to try and compete, well try anyway.   :fingers for delivery this Friday here in Arizona which is Saturday over there on the other side of the pond.

Awesome Dingo!
I've actually bought one from Europe!

The freight was HEAPS cheaper. Plus Paypal had a $20.00 discount code.

Why did I think you lived in Australia Dingo?? (I'm sure you've mentioned it before.)
Should start getting close to 1Bil credits a day with all the extra gear we are buying LOL.

Crunch on ppl.

Hahaha and I'm the dude that bought the first two. Will give me 4 of them. Apparently the USPS has lost the two r-boxes. The R4 has still not shipped despite the seller promising to do so. Looks like I will be filing some claims with eBay.
Rain, rain and more rain for next 7 days.

BTW, I looked into shipping my Gecko's to OZ. Bottom line is it is not going to happen. There are a lot of restrictions on "Application Specific Computer Hardware" and a whole bunch of customs forms. Also the very cheapest I could do is $121.00 USD to Sydney. Move out from Sydney and it gets even more expensive. Cheaper to send them to the moon via NASA.  :jester:

chooka03

LOL Dataman.
So The seller has sold nearly all his U3's to us here on Boinc Australia!.. That's GOLD

Thanks for looking into the Gecko shipments.... that's very kind of you to consider that. That pricing is ridiculous though  :shock..... seriously.
I was told about USD$100.00 for the U3 with all the cables and power packs etc. In the end I've gone through Europe where the shipping cost has been AUD $33.00 for the same equipment.

Also asked someone at work about duties etc and there's no duty to pay on good coming into Aus if the value is less than $2000 AUD. The reason I asked is becuase the seller in Europe asked if I needed any documentation. Our import/export woman said no.
Mind you.... I didn't tell her exactly what it was I was buying.

Also the shipping of miner from Holy Bitcoin in the US was no way NEAR $100...... can't remember how much it was maybe $20 via USPS.

If you guys want more U3's... I tok the risk and bought from this seller in Europe.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/152397061790?ul_noapp=true

He has 2 left and has actually been VERY helpful. Sent me the tracking details today! I wouldn't have bought it if it weren't for PayPal's protection AND they now have a 20% discount code for this item.
Maybe BOINC AUSTRALIA can soak up the worlds supply of U3's!

I have not given up yet. I am nothing if not persistent ...

@ Dingo: I did not know you were in AZ; thought you were still in Canada. If you like I could mail them to you and you could carry them back to OZ when you return for the Winter (if you are going back). You could just declare them as fancy swizzle sticks or something.  :jester: (What happened to the "big grin" smiley?) You could give them out to teammates who are interested. No worries if that is too much hassle. Just an idea. It will be at least two weeks before I retire them. I have a dozen of them and they are still providing 1/2 my credits until I get the 3 new arrays built.
:niceday

@ Dataman    Yes I am spending the winter here in Arizona so not going to Australia till maybe next October if then.  It costs too much to go to Australia every year and the kids get sick of me after a while and the cost of living there is over the moon and I am on a fixed income.  I added a  :BigGrin I must have deleted the other one by mistake.  Smileys all seem to be getting bigger and bigger.

No worries it was just an idea.
The two vacationing r-boxes finally arrived and I just installed them. All 4 are working but the more of them I add to the array the slower all 4 go. The run times so far are less than impressive.   I should have better stats after they run all night. Maybe they have to warm to our "liquid" CA sunshine.   That completes the DM08 array.
The two U3's have already shipped (UPS) and may get here Friday. Those 4 will complete the DM04 array.
The R4 still has not shipped and am getting annoyed with the seller. It is always going to ship "tomorrow". That will be the only miner on DM02. (if I get it).
After all that is done, I am going to try to put 13 Gecko's on DM06. I doubt that it will work as it will probably consume all of the CPU but you never know 'till you try.  :wink
The tracking for the r-boxes that just arrived shows it was sent back to New York City and delivered.  ??? The USPS could not find its butt if it were squatting over a mirror.

chooka03

Dataman..... I'd love to see a picture of this setup once done.
I'm picturing a room/stdy with cables and stuff EVERYWHERE! lol. Sure will be a nice, warm & cozy house you'll have there

OK. Actually, the setups are very neat and cables are tied and hidden for the most part. They are in 3 rooms to keep down the heat/noise and spread the electrical load. The r-boxes produce almost no heat and the air out the back is cooler than skin temperature. They also produce LOUSY results with run times from 900 sec to 12,000 sec. I am very disappointed but will check every thing out once again today.
The R4 shipped last night. It is my last hope or I have wasted a lot of money.
It continues to rain ...
:cry

EDIT: After a totally demoralizing morning staring at stderr's and rechecking everything, I can find nothing wrong. I'm done. I am going to surprise Karen and take her to brunch at the Cliff House. There we can sit in luxury and watch it rain on the American River rather than sit here and watch it rain on our leafless Oak trees.  Later folks ...
